This hands-on parenting education program helps parents practice nurturing and discipline techniques with their children. Radically different than sitting in a classroom and reading a book or discussing a topic, parents get help with parenting challenges right in the moment. As one mother noted, "The one-on-one, hands-on approach, of a coach going through Alena's* tantrums with me and helping me to deal with it, was appealing."The parenting coach sits on the other side of a two-way mirror while parent and child sit on the other side. By using a "bug-in-the-ear" headphone, the parent can listen to suggestions from the coach. National research on Parent Child Interaction Therapy(Training) shows these techniques to be effective in changing children's behavior, even children with very difficult behavior problems.
